Critical Handgun Essentials Description

This course will help an officer develop a process-based approach to handgun shooting and will focus on the essential skills required to get their handgun in the fight as efficiently as possible.

Class starts at 8:00 AM, and the training days are eight hours long.

Range Drills

  • Efficient duty gear set-up
  • Shooting platform/structure
  • Fundamentals of Defensive Marksmanship
  • Acceptable accuracy based on target perception
  • Understanding the balance of speed and precision
  • Breaking down drills/techniques into component skills
  • Critical incident reloading 

Student Requirements

  • Duty/Tactical belt
  • Duty handgun with holster and three magazines
  • Body armor or plate carrier - Mandatory
  • 400 rounds of quality handgun ammunition
  • Packed lunch/snacks/hydration source
  • Clothing for weather conditions
  • Hearing protection
  • Wrap around safety glasses
  • Billed hat

The course cost does not include ammunition, lodging, transportation, and food.
