Creating an OTOA User Profile for School Personnel

Teachers, superintendents, principals, administrators, support staff, and other school employees participating in approved OTOA events must first create and verify an individual OTOA user profile.

OTOA user profiles are free. Your individual profile allows OTOA staff to confirm who you are before providing access to events approved for civilian participation.

Why Is an OTOA User Profile Required?

OTOA requires individuals attending our training programs, conferences, symposiums, and other approved events to have an individual user profile. This allows OTOA to identify and verify attendees before providing access to event registration.

This verification process is not limited to school personnel. OTOA also verifies the identities and professional affiliations of law enforcement officers and other public safety personnel who create user profiles.

Important: Creating an OTOA user profile does not automatically provide access to every OTOA event. Civilian users may register only for events that OTOA has specifically approved for civilian participation.

School Personnel Are Civilian Users

For OTOA registration purposes, school employees who are not sworn law enforcement officers are considered civilian users.

This may include:

  • Teachers
  • Superintendents
  • Principals and assistant principals
  • School administrators
  • School safety and security personnel who are not sworn officers
  • Transportation personnel
  • Facilities and custodial personnel
  • Administrative and support staff
  • Other employees of a school or school district

Your Approved Profile Gives You Access to Eligible Events

OTOA offers some programs and events that are specifically approved for civilian participation. These may include programs intended for teachers, school administrators, superintendents, principals, and other school personnel.

After OTOA staff approves your profile, eligible civilian registration options can be made available to you when you are logged in.

Your user profile and event registration are two separate steps. First create and receive approval for your user profile. After approval, log in and register for the specific civilian-approved event you wish to attend.
