Law Enforcement Leader | Tactical Training Expert | SWAT Commander (Ret.)

Will Parkomaki is a veteran law enforcement professional with over 30 years of experience, currently serving as the Operations Commander for the Ashtabula Police Department. Since beginning his career in 1994, Will has held a range of positions including Patrolman, Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer (FTO), Sergeant, and Lieutenant—building a reputation as a knowledgeable leader and highly skilled tactical operator.

Will was a member of the Ashtabula Police Department SWAT Team from 1996 to 2023, where he served in progressive leadership roles—from Entry Team Member to Assistant Team Leader, Team Leader, and ultimately, Commander. His leadership helped shape the team’s operational readiness and response capabilities for over two decades.

He is also an active member of the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, where he contributes to regional efforts in locating and apprehending dangerous offenders.

In 2000, Will developed and implemented the department's Active Shooter Response Program, which has since evolved into the widely adopted "Stop the Killing, Stop the Dying" training model. This program has been presented to local, state, and federal officers across Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania and has held CPT approval since 2016.

Will’s instructor credentials are extensive. He spent eight years as an instructor with the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA), teaching nationally recognized courses such as Police Response to Active Shooter Instructor, Patrol Rifle Instructor, and Advanced Tactical Carbine. He has also instructed through the U.S. Marshals Service, Kent State University (Trumbull), Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA), and basic police academies at Lakeland Community College and Kent State.
