I have been a police officer with the Ashtabula Police Department since 1994. I have served as a patrolman, firearms instructor (handgun, revolver, patrol rifle, SMG, shotgun), FTO, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. I was a member of the SWAT Team from 1996 to 2023. There I served as an entry team member, assistant team leader, team leader and commander. I currently serve as the Operations Commander of the Ashtabula Police Department. I am a member of the USMS Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. Additionally I created and implemented the active shooter response for the department in 2000. The program has evolved to the current stop the killing, stop the dying training. This training has been presented to local, state and federal officers from Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania and has been granted CPT approval since 2016.
I have received some of my training from the NTOA, OTOA, OPOTA, FBI, FLETC, HK International Training Division, Sig Sauer, 88 Tactical, and ALERRT.
My instructional experience includes the following.
Eight years as an instructor for the National Tactical Officers Association. I instructed the “Police Response to Active Shooter Instructor” course, the “Patrol Rifle Instructor” course, and the “Advanced Tactical Carbine” course.
