The response required coordinated action among law enforcement, fire/EMS, emergency communications, emergency management, federal investigative partners, and transit officials, highlighting workplace violence preparedness, rapid active-threat response, unified command, casualty care, family assistance, and long-term organizational recovery.
2021 Indianapolis FedEx Shooting – Indianapolis, IndianaOn April 15, 2021, a mass shooting occurred at the FedEx Ground Operations Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The gunman opened fire in the employee parking area and facility during a late-night shift change, killing 8 people and injuring 5 others before taking his own life.
The incident required a coordinated response involving local law enforcement, fire and EMS, emergency communications, emergency management, federal investigative agencies, and FedEx officials. Responders managed an active-threat incident, established unified command, coordinated casualty triage and transport, secured a large industrial crime scene, supported family reunification, and conducted an extensive criminal investigation while assisting with long-term recovery efforts.
