HOST THIS TRAINING

The police sniper serves as the surgical arm of your special operations team, and like any surgeon, they require highly specialized training to excel in their profession. This program is designed to provide the foundation and starting point for that training.

Over five days of high-intensity, real-world instruction, student snipers will be prepared to meet the responsibilities and challenges of this critical role. As one of the most comprehensive Basic Police Sniper courses available, it covers all aspects of the essential sniper skillset.

Be ready to be challenged.


This course includes both physically and mentally demanding activities.

Participants are expected to be in above-average physical condition before attending.


This program offers the foundational training required for today's police sniper.


This course will cover:

  • Marksmanship fundamentals
  • Ballistics
  • Equipment
  • Rifle maintenance
  • Stalking and individual movement
  • Fieldcraft skills
  • Sniper tactics and mission planning
  • Hide construction and management
  • Observation skills
  • Intelligence gathering and reporting

  • Policy and procedures
  • Case studies

Materials needed by students

  • Notebooks and pens
  • SWAT callout uniform and equipment
  • Sniper-grade rifle with scope and bipod
  • 350 rounds of match-grade ammunition
  • Sidearm and holster
  • Cleaning equipment
  • Binoculars
  • Hide building kit (Information will be included in the detailed list)

Students will receive a detailed equipment list when the class is confirmed.


Any tactic, technique, or technology covered at any OTOA advanced training or annual training conference MUST be applied in compliance with the United States Constitution, the Ohio Revised Code, and the rules and regulations of an attendee’s employing law enforcement agency.
