Course Description

This course is designed to enhance the skills of law enforcement or SWAT officer in the art and science of tactical breaching. 

In residential and commercial environments, students will be taught the most effective and valuable breaching techniques utilized by SWAT Teams and/or Task Forces. 

Training topics will be taught by current FBI SWAT breachers: concepts and principles of breaching, reconnaissance, planning, deployment, safety considerations, equipment selection, and lessons learned.

There will be five hands-on stations consisting of ram/halligan, cut saw and chainsaw, window porting, exterior tactics/actions at the breach, and shotgun breaching. The training will conclude with a demonstration of the Lenco BearCat Hydraulic Ram Bar System.

Student Requirements

  • SWAT team training uniform or equivalent consisting of long pants and long sleeves (Note: It is recommended that students wear old/training clothes due to sparks from saw) 
  • Leather boots are also recommended (Note: avoid trail shoes or boots with nylon exteriors as sparks from saw and slag can burn through footwear causing burns/injury to feet) 
  • Gloves 
  • Ballistic Body Armor (Note: to be worn at shotgun breaching station) 
  • Helmet 
  • Eye Protection (Goggles are preferred) 
  • Hearing Protection 
  • Balaclava/hood (Note: to protect head/neck from falling glass during window porting station)                                                                                                  

                                                                                                                              ***Optional Equipment:

  • Officers are encouraged to bring a Breaching Shotgun  
  • Ram
  • Halligan and/or any other mechanical breaching tools utilized by their tactical team

                                                                                                                              ***Reporting Instructions:

Training will start inside the classroom (trailer) in front of the Shoothouse. Upon arrival, leave all gear, weapons, etc. secured in your vehicles and report to the classroom.

We will be using simunitions during some of the training. Do not bring any live ammunition or weapons on to the training site. We will provide blank rounds for the shotgun breaching station.
