This award is presented each year to a SWAT/Tactical/Patrol Unit whose members have distinguished themselves through valorous actions during a tactical operation or call for service.
A selection committee reviews situations in which members of the nominated unit clearly acted without regard for the safety of their own lives in order to safely resolve a situation, thus protecting fellow officers and/or innocent victims and bystanders.
Nominations eligible for review must be from the previous year of the awards banquet.
- For example, the situation must have occurred in 2024 or earlier to be eligible for review.
All nominations must include the following:
- Tactical Team/Agency Unit (Complete Name - No abbreviations).
- Documentation of the event: A synopsis of the event in paragraph form.
- A contact person to verify the event, actions, or conduct.

The winner of these prestigious OTOA Awards receives the following:
- Recognition at the OTOA Awards Banquet.
- Lodging will be provided for the Chief, Sheriff, Team Commander, or designee for the night of the awards banquet.
- VIP table placement for the Chief, Sheriff, Team Commander, or designee and *one (1) guest at the OTOA Awards Banquet.
