Crushing the Hard – An Evening with Justin Dodge

How the SWAT sergeant crushed by a fire truck fought his way back to duty

Justin Dodge in street clothes

Justin Dodge, a Denver Police METRO SWAT supervisor, suffered life-altering injuries during the 2023 Denver Nuggets championship parade.

Through discipline, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his team and mission, Sgt. Dodge overcame extraordinary adversity and returned to full active duty—resuming leadership within SWAT.

His story is a powerful reminder that leadership is shaped not by circumstance, but by character, perseverance, and purpose.
