Course Description

K9 Patrol Tactics course is a high tempo training
day. The goal is to maximize training time and break the cycle of excessive “down-time”
that often accompanies K9 training days. This course is designed for handlers who
have their K9 partner in attendance.
The focus is not solely on the canine and its skills; but rather both the handler and
canine will be challenged individually and of course as a team. This will be achieved
through pre-deployment strategies, scene management, tactical searching / cover
techniques (both indoor and outdoor), Decision Making Exercises (DME’s) and
immediate action drills.

Topics Covered:

Tactical Obedience / Agility with distractors
Searching techniques with single and multiple officers
Arrest techniques with and without physical apprehensions
Confidence building
Strategies for neutralizing lethal assaults / ambushes
Force on Force and Immediate Action Drills
K9 tactical medicine
Mission planning and pre-deployment strategies
Policy and Procedure
Current Case Law
