Course Description

Proper rifle fitting and setup are foundational skills critical to achieving consistent and reliable performance from a rifle. While this topic is a core element of our Instructor Course, we have developed a dedicated short course to ensure these essential skills are accessible to all snipers, not just instructors.

This course covers:

  • Rifle Fitment: Adjusting comb height, length of pull (LOP), eye relief, and more to fit the shooter.
  • Accessory Attachment: Proper placement and alignment of rifle accessories.
  • Scope Mounting and Adjustment: Removing and remounting scopes and mounting systems, including torque values, turret adjustment accuracy, zero stops, and reticles.
  • Maintenance and Suppressors: Best practices for maintaining rifles and suppressor integration.

Classroom Component:
Students will fully disassemble and reassemble the scope and mounting system, ensuring they understand each component. Instruction includes fine-tuning the scope setup, verifying torque values, and confirming turret accuracy.

Range Component:
The afternoon session moves to the range for:

  • Zero confirmation and setup effectiveness testing.
  • Drills to assess optics capability, rifle fit, and muzzle velocity.
  • Alternate shooting positions to refine rifle fit.
  • Target identification drills to test optic resolution and reticle focus.
  • Accurate determination of turret click values.

The course concludes with a basic qualification course, challenging all learned skills and building confidence before departure.

This course is designed for snipers of all experience levels, including armorers, instructors, and team leaders. It provides a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of the rifle, ensuring participants take nothing for granted in their role as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or specialists.
