Kyle Groves Bio

Kyle Groves joined the Athens, Ohio Police Department in 1997 as a Patrol Officer where he was assigned to patrol operations until he left in 2005.  During his tenure with Athens PD, he served as a Sniper-Observer, department armorer, and Simuntions Instructor.  

In 2005, Kyle joined the Dublin, Ohio Police Department where he served until his retirement in September 2022.  Kyle was assigned to patrol operations until January 2016 when he was assigned to the Community Impact Unit-Investigations.  Kyle was selected to the Tactics Team in 2011 where he served as a firearms instructor, Taser instructor, department armorer, and subject control instructor.  Kyle developed his agency’s Pistol Mounted Optics for Duty Use program prior to his retirement.  

After his retirement, Kyle served as an Advanced Training Instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) from 2022 to 2023 where he primarily instructed Semi-Auto Pistol Instructor, Patrol Rifle-Carbine Instructor, and Red Dot Instructor courses.  Kyle still serves as an adjunct instructor for OPOTA.  

Kyle joined the OTOA Red Team Training Cadre in 2024.  

Kyle is currently serving as a Reserve Police Officer for the Logan Police Department in Logan, Ohio.
