Course Description:
Response to Active Threats is a course designed to teach Law Enforcement Officers the necessary skills to efficiently eliminate active threats within a structure, such as a school, hospital, office, or other commercial space. This course is principles based and not simply one doctrine of clearance. Students will be shown how to mitigate exposure with both speed and security, while searching efficiently for the threat based on stimulus or lack there-of. The course will cover solo, duo, and 3-man movement in order to give officers scaleability in their response. In this course, the attending personnel will be taught how to engage threats while moving at rapid, manageable speeds effectively. The end state for students is learning an acceptable shot at any given distance/speed and target presentation—learning how to adjust their movements and actions to achieve optimal performance. Students will receive detailed course instruction, demonstrations, immediate diagnostic feedback to increase operational capabilities.
Course Objective:
By the end of this course, students will be able to efficiently conduct rapid or deliberate clearance of a variety of spaces, either alone, with a partner, or in teams of three, engaging active threats based on stimulus, or searching based on lack of stimulus.
