Matt Jacques is a retired police detective, former Marine Corps veteran, and nationally recognized firearms and tactical training professional with decades of experience in military, federal, and civilian law enforcement operations.

Matt began his career in the United States Marine Corps, serving with HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron, and within the Military Police occupational specialty. Following his military service, he transitioned into civilian law enforcement, serving with two Virginia law enforcement agencies in a variety of operational and instructional roles.

During his law enforcement career, Matt served as a Basic Academy Recruit Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Detective assigned to a Special Problems Unit, where he worked as an undercover detective. He was also a founding Special Deputy U.S. Marshal with the Capital Area Fugitive Task Force for the Washington, D.C. U.S. Marshals Service.

Matt spent several years assigned to a large Northern Virginia police department SWAT team, serving initially as an entry team member before being selected as a sniper team member. His law enforcement career concluded following injuries sustained during a line-of-duty incident.

Following retirement from policing, Matt was hired by FNH USA as the Senior Manager of Assault Weapons, where he played a key role in multiple high-profile weapons programs, including the FN SPR Precision Rifle, FN belt-fed weapons, and the SOCOM SCAR program. In this role, he was responsible for end-user evaluations and conducted New Equipment Training (NET) for USSOCOM and the SCAR family of weapons systems.

Matt later returned to government service as a Firearms Instructor with the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, where he provided firearms and tactical training to federal agents both domestically and internationally. His responsibilities included instruction across 18 weapons platforms and training agents to operate both covertly and overtly in austere and hostile environments, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and multiple regions throughout Africa.

In 2011, Matt was promoted to Chief of Operations for the Department of State Firearms Training Unit. In this role, he supervised 32 instructors while continuing to train elite operational elements, including tactical teams, sniper programs, and high-threat protection components.

In 2013, Matt resigned from government service to establish Victory First as a full-time consulting and training company. Today, he serves as a consultant to several leading firearms industry manufacturers, supporting product development, business strategy, and new-equipment training initiatives.

Drawing from his extensive operational and instructional background, Matt is a highly sought-after instructor specializing in concealment and undercover operations, carbine training, and Designated Marksman / Dual-Designated Marksman (DM/DDM) programs.
