Sergeant Barnie began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer in Fairview Park where he was a member of the Westshore Enforcement Bureau (WEB) Bomb Squad. He now works for the Westlake Police Department and is now the Commander of the WEB Bomb Squad. Sergeant is also a certified drone pilot and assists the WEB SWAT team by utilizing both interior and exterior drones as overwatch during SWAT missions. 

Sergeant Barnie also served 10 years in the United States Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician and participated in 3 combat missions to Iraq. He also worked as a Ground Ordnance instructor at the U.S. Navy EOD school in Florida for two years. He was also a High Explosives Testing Officer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in the Explosive testing unit. In this position, Sergeant Barnie assisted in the testing and application of high explosives weapons and armor for the United States Army.
