Advanced Firearms for the Plain Clothes & Task Force Officer 16 – Hours

Law Enforcement Officers assigned to plainclothes and task force units go from patrol units to specialized units and are expected to “conceal a firearm”.  

Carrying a firearm while off-duty provides similar challenges. Agencies require the annual firearms “qualification” and very often, no “training”.

The Advanced Firearms for the Plain Clothes and Task Force Officer training course will provide contemporary insights into equipment selection, advanced firearms training, Combatives, and the OTOA principles for winning an armed engagement.

Required Equipment – Student Supplied:

  • 800 rounds of factory pistol ammunition – NO RELOADS - NO STEEL CORE
  • Duty or Individual owned pistol with a minimum of 3 magazines
  • Sturdy pants belt capable of holding a magazine pouch and concealment holster
  • Concealed holster (*see criteria below)
    (SORRY - No Serpa, shoulder/ ankle holsters)
  • Cover garment – button-down shirt, jacket, sweatshirt, etc.
  • Wear the clothing you would wear while carrying off-duty or working in a plainclothes capacity
  • Wrap around Eye Protection
  • Ear protection (electronic preferred)
  • Baseball style hat / billed cap
  • Food / Water - No meals provided
  • Seasonal weather gear/rain gear - dress for the weather

Concealment holster criteria

  • Capable of holstering without the use of the support hand
  • Concealment holsters that retain an open cavity AFTER the firearm is removed.

Advanced Patrol Rifle / Carbine 8 - Hours

The OTOA is delighted to announce another exclusive training course for police professionals, military and armed security officers interested in improving skills with the rifle/carbine.

This firearms course is a comprehensive, one-day advanced rifle-training day with practical applications through live-fire exercises.

This course is conducted by credentialed and experienced OTOA trainers. All OTOA training staff are tenured police professionals with specific expertise in mentoring and coaching shooters of all levels of experience with firearms.

This course does NOT involve any classroom, only range time

Introduction to Red Dot Sight (RDS) Handgun 8-Hours

The OTOA is delighted to announce an exclusive training course for Red Dot Sights equipped handguns.

The OTOA RDS Handgun course offers an individual officer looking to gain hands-on knowledge with the RDS system from credentialed and experienced OTOA trainers currently carrying and using Red Dot Sights daily and on duty.

From the novice to the skilled shooter, this course offers an unprecedented opportunity to acquire more information on the RDS handgun prior to making a purchase.


No handgun with Red Dot Sights? - No problem!


The OTOA and GLOCK, Inc. will provide twenty-four (24) Glock G5 9mm pistols, all equipped with the latest Red Dot Sights for students to use and evaluate.


Red Dot Sights sponsored and provided by Trijicon, Vortex, and Holosun.


The OTOA in cooperation with our generous sponsors will also offer holsters from Safariland, Alien Gear, Zero 9 Solutions, and Raven Concealment Systems for students to use and evaluate.

Every Glock RDS pistol will be equipped with a flashlight from Nighstick or Surefire. 

Zero 9 Solutions triple magazine pouches will also be available to use and evaluate.

The OTOA will supply the RDS pistol, holster, light, and mag pouches - Students will be required to bring their own 9mm ammo.
