Instructor Notes for Students

If you are allergic to bees or other outdoor plants or animals please bring your epinephrine pen or other medication.

You MUST notify the instructor staff of any allergies you have. 

Prepare to bring whatever you would take on a SWAT Mission or Call Out.

Force on Force conversion kits for both weapons systems (Rifle & Pistol) (UTM, SIMUNITION, etc) *UTM conversions and ammo for both AR Platform rifles and GLOCK are available to rent from the OTOA. 

Basic SWAT School Equipment List

The following is a detailed list of what the OTOA recommends each student bring to the 5-day SWAT training

List of equipment - MANDATORY

  • Level III Tactical Body Armor and/or in conjunction plates with plate carrier and soft body armor
  • Ballistic helmet (if issued)
  • Primary Weapon System (long gun) with four (4) mags minimum
  • Secondary Weapon System (pistol) with three (3) mags minimum
  • 400 rounds For EACH weapon system - NO GREEN TIP or ARMOR PIERCING AMMO
  • Weapon mounted lights and/or handheld lights are mandatory and bring spare batteries
  • Gas Mask & Filter
  • ANY / ALL EQUIPMENT for a call out or SWAT / SRT activation
  • Gloves
  • Ball cap
  • Bug spray and sunblock
  • Incliment weather gear for bith cold and wet weather, dependent
  • Eye Protection / Ear Protection
  • Simunition weapons /adaptors or UTM weapons or adaptors.
  • SIMS/UTM/Force on Force protective gear should be brought by student if available
  • 100 rounds ammunition for Sim or UTM
  • Pen and notebook
  • Water and food

Optional Equipment

  • Breaching Equipment - Rams, pry tools, etc
  • Ballistic Shields
  • Mirrors
