Officer-Down Survival Course

The Officer-Down Survival Course is a hands-on, dynamic training program designed to equip officers with life-saving skills and strategies. This proven program has successfully saved lives and focuses on practical application through skill-building stations and stress-inoculation scenarios. Participants will learn how to respond effectively to injuries involving themselves, fellow officers, or civilians in high-pressure situations.

Guided by experienced SWAT Operators and Medics with decades of real-world expertise, this course emphasizes realistic drills and constructive feedback to ensure readiness for critical incidents.

Course Focus:

  • Treating preventable causes of death
  • Multiple scenario-based officer-down stress inoculation drills, including but not limited to: hostage situations, knock-and-talk scenarios, and traffic stops gone bad
  • Self-defense (lead instructor is a former program administrator for the State of Ohio Use of Force with 30 years of martial arts experience)
  • Officer extraction using cover and/or vehicles
  • Live actors integrated for maximum realism

By the end of the training, officers will be proficient in:

  • Treatment and use of tourniquets
  • Staying in the fight after treatment
  • Wound packing and pressure dressings
  • Applying chest seals for gunshot wounds
  • Managing stabbing and blast injuries
  • Performing carries and drags

Instructor Cadre: Our instructors are veterans, current SWAT, federal law enforcement officers, TEMS operators, ER nurses, and TEMS physicians, bringing a wealth of practical experience to the training.
