This course is designed to introduce police personnel (supervisors, tactical and task force team leaders, detectives, etc.) to the procedures used for tactical mission planning and briefing of involved personnel. The course will cover topics such as mission planning, documentation, and operational planning for high-risk search warrants. Additionally, students will learn scouting procedures for mission planning, as well as strategies for modifying high-risk search warrant planning to fit other types of tactical missions, including open area operations, barricaded subjects, arrest warrant/fugitive apprehension, and hostage barricade situations.
A key course outcome will be ensuring that participants leave with a comprehensive, yet efficient, briefing system in place. While this is not a tactics course, various tactics will be discussed and applied to specific missions to demonstrate the flexibility of the briefing process.
