Course Description

COURSE PREREQUISITES:

This course is open to all sworn police officers -

·       preferably those with teaching/instructing experience.

Course participants should have a basic knowledge of -

·       high-risk patrol operations and proficiency in basic rapid deployment tactics and techniques.

Course participants should be capable of -  

·       operating in physically challenging situations and being required to run, sprint, kneel, crawl, negotiate simple obstacles, and perform police tactical skills.

If an officer is physically incapable of performing these physical tasks, please do not register to attend.

  • The course requires every attendee to be equipped with a converted patrol rifle and pistol capable of  shoot marking cartridges. Officers are required to have converted weapons and supply their own marking ammunition.
  • ·       Officers must have a minimum of 300rds rifle and 100 rounds of the pistol of marking rounds (any color).
  • ·       Officers should also bring protective masks and neck protection if available. ITOA can supply some protective gear.

Acceptable marking rounds include:

  • ·       9mm and; .223 Simunition / 9mm and; .223 UTM and; Force-on-Force Brands.

MACTAC is a required course for the Tactical Patrol Officers (TPO) Certification Program.Paint Ball systems and rounds may NOT be utilized in this course.

Course attendees will learn specialized advanced tactical skills that can be employed when offices face heavily armed, violent offenders in an urban environment. The emphasis of this course will be the swift and immediate deployment of law enforcement resources when the situation requires immediate action against armed offenders, be they a lone wolf, a pair, a group, or multiple groups of armed offenders.

The course will highlight the MACTAC (Multiple Assault Counter Terrorist Action Capabilities) techniques, tactics, and curriculum.

Failure to act in these situations has resulted in catastrophic consequences, death, and great bodily harm to officers and innocent people. The techniques, tactics, and skills taught will assist officers in limiting the scope of the crisis, containing and preventing the escape of armed dangerous offenders, rescuing downed officers and persons, and stopping on-going violence utilizing integrated tactics.

Topics addressed will include:

  • ·       Integrated tactics for first responders, contact, and rescue teams
  • ·       Team formations and multiple team awareness
  • ·       Urban tactical operations and movement formations
  • ·       Use of force guidelines and safety protocols
  • ·       Integration of multiple agency responses
  • ·       Verbal skills and utilizing common terms.

Student Requirements

Attendees will need their own Simunitions Gear.

The course training and scenarios are all conducted with marking cartridges.

Marking cartridges are required.

Paintball weapons are not allowed.

The course requires every attendee to be equipped with a converted patrol rifle and pistol that shoot marking cartridges.
9mm  Simunition FX Marking Cartridges / 9mm and; .223 Speer Force on Force Marking Rounds / UTM Marking Rounds and all associated weapon conversions and systems are acceptable.

  • ·       300 rounds rifle marking cartridges
  • ·       100 rounds pistol of marking cartridges- any color.

NOT ACCEPTABLE – 

·       Paint Ball systems/rounds may NOT be utilized in this course.

Each attendee is required to bring the following equipment:

  • ·       Department Vehicle (marked or unmarked)
  • ·       Full SWAT / Tactical Gear and; Weapons Assembly
  • ·       Ball Cap
  • ·       Protective Impact Resistant Safety Glasses
  • ·       Knee Pads
  • ·       Force on Force face and throat protection
  • ·       Water / Sports Drinks to Maintain Hydration - Food for Lunch
  • ·       Inclement Weather Gear – The majority of the course is outside - we will train rain or shine
  • ·       Bug Juice / Sunscreen
